Stoyan RAKOVSKI was born in 1976 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
For Stoyan Rakovski, violin making has always been organically linked to his work as a musician and composer. He grew up in a family of artists. He has been close to painting and sculpture since childhood.
All these elements led to the opening of his workshop in 2020 in Liège, Belgium.
The decision to devote himself to violin making is the result of many years of personal research, studies and practical experiments in connection with the making of stringed instruments.
Stoyan Rakovski was thus able to develop his way of tuning his instruments. He was able to obtain rare qualities sought after by instrumentalists.
Rakovski instruments are exclusively originals as a result of his own experience and at the same time keeping strictly the normes of the traditions of the art. Even if they can be similar in certain aspects to instruments built in the past, they are showing their own individuality. They are made in accordance with the classic rules and standards of construction.
Therefore, even if the admiration for the work of the great Italian Masters gave him a lot of motivation, he never aimed to copy old instruments or produce copies, a work that is completely admirable and no less demanding than working on original instruments.
On the contrary, he puts his knowledge and know-how at the service of innovative instruments that are well adapted to the needs and requirements of today’s instrumentalists and repertoire.
